Building in Atlanta's established neighborhoods brings constraints that newer developments do not. Mature tree canopy has to be protected. Lot lines are tight, historic district review is often in play, and neighbors are close enough that the construction schedule genuinely matters to them. Managing those conditions without compromising the design is a significant part of what a builder contributes.

The Berndsen Company has worked in these neighborhoods for over thirty years — Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Atlanta's older intown communities — where a new house has to sit comfortably among its neighbors rather than announce itself. Getting scale, massing, and materials right in that context is as much a part of the work as anything that happens inside.
